How close are the cast of Avengers: Endgame? Chris Evans recently shared his favorite photo with co-star Scarlett Johansson and they look pretty chummy. After
One big, happy family
On more than one occasion, the cast of the Avengers films has talked about their bond being like a family.
In 2015, Evans told Esquire that Chris Hemsworth was “like a brother,” explaining: “Oh yeah, [Chris Hemsworth] is like a brother at this point. We’ve had a very similar trajectory in, at least, being welcomed into this world. We both took these [Marvel hero] roles. We were both timid and nervous and didn’t know how it was gonna play out. It’s been nice to kind of share this with him. We each have the standalone films as well, which can be a whole separate element of pressure and anxiety, and he’s just been so helpful to me. Just to have someone else who’s going through the same struggles I am.”
Karen Gillan, who pays Nebula, told E! News: “Hanging out with everyone on the set is one of the best parts of this job because it does have this large, extended family feel.”
Some of the Avengers cast even have matching tattoos
Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Johansson, Evans, and Jeremy Renner all got tattoos following the
The tattoo is a mashup of the Avengers logo and the number six, representing the original six superheroes: Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye.
Robert Downey Jr. told Entertainment Weekly about the ink, explaining: “Five of the original six Avengers got a tattoo. And the sixth was the tattoo artist, who gave it to five of us, the one who opted out being Mark Ruffalo. It was Johansson’s idea, and she and Evans did it in New York. Then, their New York guy, Josh Lord, who is amazing, flew out to LA, he did me, did Renner, and then we just bullied Hemsworth into doing it, and he got it.”
He added: “And each one of us drew a line on the artist with his own tattoo gun and it was a total massacre. Each of us contributed to giving the tattoo artist the sixth tattoo that he designed for us. By the way, he’s got another one on him that Scarlett did, which is beautiful, which is crazy, because the line she drew on him, which was just supposed to be a straight line, looked like a lightning bolt. It was a mess.”
Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson go way back
Before joining the Avengers, playing Steve Rogers/Captain America and Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Evans and Johansson had worked together in two other films — 2004’s The Perfect Score and 2007’s The Nanny Diaries.
Johansson told Variety about their time working on The Perfect Score, explaining: “Our storylines didn’t cross paths too much. We did have one scene where we had to sing together. I was talking to Chris about it the other day, actually.”
The costars get their game (boy) on
Mark Ruffalo, who plays The Hulk, shared the cutest pic of Evans and Johansson having some downtime during filming, kicking back to play Game Boy together. Ruffalo tweeted: “#FBF to our long days on the #AvengersEndgame set @ChrisEvans.”
Evans responded, “This is my new favorite picture,” following it up with what he called “an oldie” GIF of him and Johansson playing a hand slap game and noting “We’ve been playing games on set since 2002!”
