How Queen Elizabeth II Learned of Princess Diana's Death - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

At her summer home, Balmoral, a place known as a source of joy for the leader of the monarch became the setting for pain and grief when Queen Elizabeth II learned of Princess Diana’s passing on Aug. 31, 1997. Continue reading to learn how Queen Elizabeth II learned of her daughter-in-law’s passing.

Ingrid Seward, British author and royal family biographer who reported on the family for 18 years, learned of details from that fateful Aug. night 22 years ago and shared them in her 2000 book, The Queen & Di, according to Reader’s Digest

How Queen Elizabeth II found out about Princess Diana’s death

Queen Elizabeth II and a number of family members including Princess Diana’s ex-husband, Prince Charles, and their sons, Prince William and Prince Harry were at Balmoral in Scotland when Princess Diana died in a hospital in Paris, France.

Princess Diana, or the People’s Princess, had died in the early morning hours of Aug. 31, which meant one of her aides woke her up. She got out of bed wearing a retro nightgown and met her son, Prince Charles, in the hallway outside her bedroom.

Prince Charles delivered the news to Queen Elizabeth II, his mother, that Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed, the man she had been seeing at the time, had been in a serious car accident in a Paris tunnel.

Everyone waited for news on Princess Diana’s condition

Early on, details were sparse. They knew Fayed had been reported dead on the scene while Princess Diana had survived the crash. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles stayed up awaiting more news. In the meantime, Queen Elizabeth II asked her staff to make tea but it sat untouched.

When Queen Elizabeth II first learned of the car accident, she had been informed Princess Diana had escaped the car crash unharmed. But a phone call changed all that. Prince Charles had been told, “Sir, I am very sorry to have to tell you that I’ve just had the Ambassador on the phone. The Princess died a short time ago,” which caused him to break down in tears.

At 4 a.m. Princess Diana was pronounced dead at Pitié-Salpétrière Hospital in Paris.

Understandably, the news came as a shock to both Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. After all, Princess Diana had been only 36 years old when her life was cut short. Queen Elizabeth II reportedly thought Princess Diana had much potential and that her death was “a terrible waste.

Princess Diana’s last words before she died

20 years after her death, French firefighter, Xavier Gourmelon, spoke publicly for the first time about what he witnessed at the crash. Gourmelon and his team were the first to arrive on the scene and he stayed with Princess Diana while she was taken out of the vehicle. Gourmelon heard Princess Diana say, “My God, what’s happened?” before she went into cardiac arrest.

Another person on the scene, Frederic Mailliez, a doctor happened to be driving by the scene of the accident and stopped to help. He told the Times of London he didn’t recognize Princess Diana — neither did firefighter Gourmelon — and recalled her saying, “Oh my God, leave me alone.”

Princess Diana would have celebrated her 58th birthday on July 1, 2019. Today marks the 22-year anniversary of her death.

Judy Review | Movie - Empire

Movies:

Actors:

1968. With her ex-husband Sid Luft (Rufus Sewell) demanding custody of her children and struggling to pay a $4 million tax bill, fragile Hollywood legend Judy Garland (Renée Zellweger) takes up a sold-out residency at London’s Talk Of The Town nightclub. Can she keep it together so the show can go on?

There is an image around halfway through _Judy_ that captures Judy Garland (Zellweger) slumped in her dressing room, head bowed, cigarette burning in hand, surrounded by wall-to-wall flowers, a depleted Garland before literal garlands. It’s a moment that gets to the heart of the last days of Garland’s life, the difference between the private and the public, despair and sadness crystallised against a rose-coloured world-view. It’s something Rupert Goold’s film doesn’t quite manage again. For, despite an imposing performance by Renée Zellweger, Judy never exposes the dark heart of Garland’s last years, creating an enjoyable backstage drama movie while failing to get under its protagonist’s skin.

Like last year’s much better _Stan & Ollie_ (it shares a character in showbiz impresario Bernard Delfont), Tom Edge’s screenplay examines Garland through the prism of a late-in-life UK engagement peppered with flashbacks to key moments in her early years as a child star. After a talk-y start in Los Angeles (Gemma-Leah Devereux is a dead spit for Liza Minnelli), things pick up when Garland arrives in London, refuses to rehearse then knocks ‘By Myself’ out of the park. Garland is paired with an assistant-cum-minder, Ros (Jessie Buckley, using a fraction of her talents), and the subsequent uphill struggle to get Garland stage-ready is entertaining. We see glimpses of other areas of Garland’s life — a brutal TV interview about her children, her lover Mickey Deans (Finn Wittrock) surprising her in London — but it’s in the theatre where ‘Judy’ impresses most.

The uphill struggle to get Garland stage-ready is entertained.

The film is less surefooted when it comes to dealing with Garland’s past. Interspersed in the ’60s timeline are flashbacks to young Judy in ’30s Hollywood, being ugly-shamed on the set of The Wizard Of Oz by Louis B. Mayer, denied a French fry at lunch with Mickey Rooney to control her weight, and an act of rebellion as she jumps in a tank at a manufactured birthday party staged two months before the actual date. Yet the correlation between Judy’s brutal management by Mayer and her later-in-life troubles feels simplistic, psychoanalysis 101 that undercuts any attempts at complexity. Equally banal is a plot thread back in London involving Garland and two gay fans (Andy Nyman, Daniel Cerqueira) that feels entirely engineered to pay homage to Garland’s status as a gay icon rather than offer any sense of convincing organic drama.

It’s a small film that never successfully evokes the scale of old-school Hollywood — the LA sequences feel very stage-bound — or the louche London of the ’60s. Zellweger goes some way to etching Judy’s loss — there’s a touching late-on moment when Judy phones home to daughter Lorna (Bella Ramsey) — and goes for broke on stage, barnstorming her way through ‘The Trolley Song’ or smouldering on ‘Come Rain Or Come Shine’. Yet the film really stumbles in its big climax, pulling a cheap trick, parlaying one of Hollywood’s saddest, most tragic stories into a feel-good moment. Garland — and Zellweger — deserved so much more.

Judy is an enjoyable, sincere attempt to present a multi-faceted portrait of a Hollywood legend, bolstered by a strong Renée Zellweger. Yet it never really finds the subtleties and depths to make it compelling and the ‘inspirational’ ending diminishes a sad, complex life.

'Terminator: Dark Fate' Trailer: #JudgmentDay Has Arrived Again - Deadline

Paramount, Skydance and 2oth Century Fox have unveiled a new trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate, which returns the iconic franchise to its roots with Jim Cameron producing, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton starring, and the rating decidedly R.

The latest look at the pic, directed by Deadpool‘s Tim Miller, comes on August 29, which is Judgment Day in Terminator lore — the day (in 1997) when Skynet became self-aware, launching the cyborg apocalypse that Hamilton’s Sarah Conner has been trying to stop for decades. Expect plenty of noise throughout Friday about the 8/29 significance (like this):

The Dark Fate story picks up where Cameron left off with 1991’s Terminator 2, and as he told Deadline’s Geoff Boucher today, the time-travel aspects of the new story has been used to effectively erase the events depicted in the three previous installments. The new trailer show’s Conner protecting the world again with the help of her onetime nemesis — and now, reluctantly again, her ally — played by Schwarzenegger.

“When this is all over,” she tells him at one point in the trailer, “I am going to kill you.” Replies The Terminator: “I understand.”

Dark Fate‘s own judgment day is November 1, when it hits theaters.

Mackenzie Davis plays the new and improved (and human) version of the perfect killing machine, co-starring with Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna and Diego Boneta and the bad robot. The screenplay hails from David Goyer & Justin Rhodes and Billy Ray, with story by Cameron & Charles Eglee & Josh Friedman and Goyer & Rhodes.

Producers are Cameron and David Ellison. Exec producers are Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Edward Cheng, Miller, John J. Kelly, Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn.

Check out the trailer above.

Terminator: Dark Fate's Thrilling Final Trailer Unleashed On Judgement Day - Geek Culture

It’s finally Judgement Day, and to commemorate it, the team behind Terminator: Dark Fate has finally released the final trailer of the movie, as well as its official movie poster.

The sixth instalment in the Terminator franchise, Terminator: Dark Fate will be produced by James Cameron and Tim Miller. Dark Fate will serve as a direct sequel to the first two Terminator films. According to Tim Miller, every Terminator film that came after Terminator 2: Judgement Day happened in an alternate universe and will not affect the main canon.

Terminator fans can also look forward to the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton. While Hamilton will be reprising her role as Sarah Connor, it has long been revealed that Schwarzenegger will come back as a different Terminator, with a whole new chassis number.

The new trailer gives us a better glimpse at what to expect from the movie, including an older Sarah Connor that is just as much of a badass as she was in every other Terminator film, as well as several cool fight scenes including the new cast and, of course, Schwarzenegger himself.

Liam Hemsworth is putting his acting career first following his split from wife Miley Cyrus.

Hemsworth, 29, took to Instagram to tease the release of his new film “Killerman,” which opens on Friday in the US.

“I’m incredibly proud of the work everyone did on it,” the Australian star wrote on Instagram, adding, “Blood, sweat and tears were shed from all who were involved.”

Hemsworth stars as Moe Diamond, “a New York City money launderer who wakes up with no memory and millions of dollars in stolen cash and drugs,” according to the plot summary on IMDb.

Earlier this month, Hemsworth confirmed that he and Cyrus, 26, had separated after less than a year of marriage. He filed shortly after for divorce in Los Angeles, citing “irreconcilable differences,” TMZ previously reported.

Cyrus’ romance with blogger Kaitlynn Carter has been heating up, after becoming public when an early-August smooch-fest in Italy was caught on camera.

On Monday, Cyrus performed her new breakup ballad, “Slide Away,” during MTV’s Video Music Awards, after sharing a backstage kiss with 30-year-old Carter. The pair later held hands while entering a VMAs afterparty.

Carter and longtime love Brody Jenner confirmed their breakup in early August.

News Valet claims Judge Mathis spit in his face during dispute in Detroit 5:10 AM - WXYZ Detroit

DETROIT (WXYZ) — A celebrity judge from Detroit is under fire this morning for spitting in a valet driver's face.

Judge Greg Mathis is denying the claim.

The Detroit Police Department have confirmed they are investigating an incident where a valet driver was spit on. But they say since the suspect is not formally charged at this time — they will not confirm whether the person responsible is judge Mathis.

It allegedly happened Friday outside Flood's Bar and Grille on St. Antoine and Lafayette in Greektown.

According to a report from TMZ, the valet driver had Mathis' key in his pocket and was out to retrieve another car.

He returned 10 or 15 minutes later and said Mathis yelled at him in front of co-workers and customers. And then allegedly spit.

Judge Mathis released a statement that read in part "We had a little verbal back and forth and that was the extent of it. There was no spitting, there were six witnesses there if they want to ask them.”

Mathis also claims he was waiting for 40 minutes for his car.

Detroit police say they are looking for any type of video from the incident.

Jessi Combs, 'fastest woman on four wheels,' dies in crash - 10TV

Race car driver and "Mythbusters" host Jessi Combs has died after crashing her vehicle in an attempt to break her own land-speed record. She was 36.

Combs was known as the "fastest woman on four wheels" after setting a record of 398 mph in her jet-powered North American Eagle Supersonic Speed Challenger in 2013. Combs had attempted to beat her record last year, when she managed to get to speeds of 483 mph. A mechanical error ended that attempt.

One of her team members, Terry Madden, announced her death on Instagram.

"I have never loved or been loved by anyone as much as this amazing woman @thejessicombs," he wrote. "She was truly my unicorn and I enjoyed every single minute that I had with her. She was the most amazing spirit that I have ever or will ever know."

Adam Savage, a former co-host on "Mythbusters," also wrote about Combs. Combs appeared on several episodes of the show when host Kari Byron was on maternity leave.

"She was a brilliant & to[p]-notch builder, engineer, driver, fabricator, and science communicator, & strove everyday to encourage others by her prodigious example," he said on Twitter. "We are lesser for her absence."

Combs posted photos of the car she was planning to drive to beat her record days before her death.

Wow: Gigi Hadid and Tyler Cameron Kissed at an MTV VMAs After-Party and Hung Out With Taylor Swift - Cosmopolitan.com

  • Gigi Hadid and Tyler Cameron attended a MTV VMAs after-party together.
  • They were seen kissing and hanging out with Taylor Swift.

Last night, Gigi Hadid walked the MTV VMA red carpet with her sister, Bella Hadid, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t make time to see Tyler Cameron. Reportedly, once the awards show wrapped, Gigi and Tyler went to an after-party and were seen—gasp!— kissing!

According to some Fleur Room onlookers who clearly love to gossip, when Tyler and Gigi walked in, they went over to say hi to Taylor Swift first. (In case you forgot because Taylor replaced her old girl squad with a whole new, more inclusive squad at the VMAs, Taylor and Gigi go way back.) An E! source said, “Taylor greeted him with a big hug. Tyler and Gigi shared a kiss.”

This is breaking news comes weeks after Tyler and Gigi first started hanging out in New York City after Hannah B. dumped him on The Bachelorette. Since then, they’ve gone on bowling dates, members-only club dates, and they even went on a mini vacation together to upstate New York—I hear Starbucks is way more chill and romantic up north. Unfortunately there are no pictures of the kiss right now, but Gigi and Tyler show no signs of slowing down anytime soon, so, patience.

Celebrity Sightings In New York City - August 20, 2019

    GothamGetty Images

According to a People source, Tyler is definitely keen on keeping their relationship going and loves the attention, which is interesting, to say the least. Last week, the source told the magazine, “Tyler lives in NYC now. He has his own place, but for their dates, they hang out at Gigi’s. He is very public about going in and out of her place—you can tell that he wants to be seen. He is enjoying the attention he gets for dating Gigi.”

Hmm. Hopefully he doesn’t have any shady motives and isn’t just capitalizing on his newfound popularity!

Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker Plot Details Teased By Cast – /Film - /FILM

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Disney’s 2019 D23 Expo has proven to be a goldmine of information for Star Wars fans. Not only did we get treated to a teaser jam-packed with new footage from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, director J.J. Abrams and his cast were all there to tease new plot details from the upcoming film. Star Daisy Ridley was especially chatty, revealing a few Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker plot details about the return of a big villain, and the possible introduction of a new one.

    The Trio is Sticking Together

In an interview with Variety, J.J. Abrams confirmed what stars like John Boyega have been hinting for months: We’ll finally get a whole movie of the new trio together. Star Wars: The Force Awakens saw Boyega’s Finn parting ways with Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) shortly after they meet, only to run into Daisy Ridley’s Rey soon after. Rey and Poe didn’t even meet until the final scene of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. But that’s all going to change with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This new trio is finally going to act like the trio they were introduced as, Abrams said:

Star Wars has always been a story of good versus evil, it’s always been a story about fighting an oppressive regime. And my favorite one about this one is that it’s about a group of friends going on this adventure. You get to see them on this crazy, thrilling adventure together and not split up, so I’m really excited about that.

Emperor Palpatine Plays an “Instrumental Role”

When Emperor Palpatine’s instantly recognizable cackle appeared at the end of the first Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer, the internet was rife with speculation. How much of a part would the Emperor truly play? Was this just a tease of a ghostly vision or a suggestion of the return of the Skywalker Saga’s Big Bad? According to Ridley, it’s the latter. In an interview with CinemaBlend, Ridley revealed that the Emperor plays an “instrumental” part to the plot of the film. But there’s more to his return than simply Luke Skywalker’s declaration in the trailer that “No one’s ever really gone”:

He’s the biggest baddie in Star Wars history. Now that we’ve done the story, I’m like, it couldn’t have happened any other way. It had to be that. But he’s very instrumental to the plot of the film. It’s not just like he appears again; it’s all explained.

Rose actress Kelly Marie Tran added that the Emperor’s storyline has a tie to her favorite Star Wars theme – “redemption.” This is an interesting twist on what we’ve known of the Emperor to date. There is no indication that he would ever seek redemption, much less deserve it. Or could Tran be hinting at someone else getting redemption through the return of the Emperor? We’ll have to wait and see.

Daisy Ridley Was Just as Surprised as You Were By the Dark Rey Reveal

But let’s get to the biggest reveal of the D23 teaser: Dark Rey. It’s all up in the air whether this evil version of Rey is simply a vision or from a dream sequence, or whether Rey has truly gone to the Dark Side. But one thing’s for certain: Ridley is just as surprised by this reveal as you are:

I went to Bad Robot yesterday and I was like, ‘Hey, can I see the teaser’? They were like, ‘Yeah, yeah.’ No warning. And I watch, and went [inhales deeply] ‘Oh my god, are you really putting that in there?’ That was my reaction. And then watching it today, it was weird because I felt nervous with it coming because I knew it was going to be. And then hearing the audience reaction was amazing.

To be fair, Ridley knew about the reveal itself (she had to put on that black coat and wield that awesome double-bladed lightsaber for at least one shot), but it was more the inclusion of the reveal in the teaser considering how close to the chest Abrams and Lucasfilm play things with Star Wars. But don’t expect Ridley to speak more on what this reveal means. When probed about the reveal by IGN, Ridley only said vaguely, “I think it should hopefully show people that we did a big old journey. And we explored some things.”

Boyega was a little more playful with IGN when speaking about the reveal, calling the red lightsaber “a glowstick thing, Rey’s going to a rave,” but he did caution that “I don’t think the fans should really get into all that.”

'Black Panther' Fans Shouldn't Expect a Sequel Anytime Soon, But One Is On the Way - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Any of you who watched or attended the D23 Expo will know that Marvel and Disney gave us a news dump of a lifetime. You can argue the slate of movies and streaming projects they have planned is a little bit overwhelming in the A-list talent they’ve landed and the writing teams. Amid the chaos, though, we did learn there’s going to be a Black Panther 2…eventually.

    Black Panther cast

It might disappoint some Marvel fans on how long everyone will have to wait for this sequel, though. Not that the impact of it won’t resonate even more in making everyone wait.

How long will it be? When you know the date, you might consider it perfect timing for the times we live in.

A three-year wait doesn’t seem overly long nowadays

According to the D23 Expo panel, you can expect Black Panther 2 on May 6, 2022, kicking off the early summer movie season then. Ryan Coogler will also be back to direct, giving it the needed elements to succeed all over again.

Some fans might be uneasy they have to wait so long to see a follow-up after the massive cultural impact the first film made. There was already clear indication from the last Comic-Con in San Diego there wouldn’t be a Black Panther 2 in 2021 after a massive new MCU slate was announced for the next couple of years.

Marvel stayed quiet about it until the explanation and release date at D23. Perhaps this was done deliberately to keep everyone abuzz about its prospects. However, Black Panther star Martin Freeman made comment about it recently before the D23 Expo took place.

According to Freeman then, he figured the shooting date would be at some point in 2021. Now we know he was right on the money, if not even earlier to make sure this film lives up to its high ideals.

Taking their time to create another ‘Black Panther’ classic

Ryan Coogler was quoted as saying at D23 they’ll be “taking their time” with the movie so they get every element the way they want it. They seemed to have done that with the first film as well considering filming started more than a year and a half before release, plus reams of African history research done.

Now with more than three years away from release, the film has plenty of room to go even further on widening the world of Wakanda. We all hope to see and learn a lot more about this fictional African country and about its mythologies/culture.

At the same time, we also want to see what the film will do to connect with what’s going on in our real world as it did somewhat the first time. Having it come out in 2022 might make it perfect timing if our culture is at a crossroads in terms of us all getting along as a society.

When the film last left off, Black Panther (T’Challa) was seen speaking to the United Nations about the role Wakanda plays in being a peaceful country with powerful technology. Of course, we can see this possibly being exploited in the sequel by Americans, something that’s offhandedly related to Avatar.

Will we see Wakanda and America work together, or go to war?

Because Wakanda is such a technologically advanced civilization, you can’t help but see the American government want to exploit what they have. In the first film, we already saw attempts to sell off their technology to other Africans across the globe so they could grow more powerful.

If we see American leaders go after it, the film might outdo Avatar in realizing the massive real-life overtones. With more recent analysis of early slavery in 1600s North America, seeing greedy U.S. forces attempt to take over Wakanda seems like a logical step in mimicking our history. Regardless, let’s keep in mind the plot isn’t confirmed yet.

By 2022, we may be in a place where the second film will resonate at a heightened level. Any saving grace would be we somehow “normalize”/calm in our country before then so any racial parallels won’t be quite so painful to see play out on the big screen.

PHOTOS: Look Into the Future and the Past With A Stylized Epcot... - wdwnt.com

This post may contain affiliate links; please read the disclosure for more information.

♫ Have you ever looked beyond today into the future? Picturing a world we’ve yet to see? ♫

It seems those lyrics from Horizons have a new meaning with Epcot’s display at Disney Parks’ “Imagining Tomorrow, Today” pavilion at the 2019 D23 Expo.

One of the centerpieces of the exhibit is this stylized model of Epcot, where pavilions present and future are arranged in Epcot’s famed five-ring emblem.

Here’s a look at the Journey of Water attraction, inspired by the film Moana.

And there’s the Mexico pavilion, with some very oversized flowers and maracas.

Reflect on this stylized representation of the China pavilion.

And it wouldn’t be Epcot without some sort of dedication or caption. The plaque reads:

“The EPCOT Center logo symbolizes unity, fellowship and harmony around the world. Five outer rings are linked to form the shape of a flower – a celebration of life. The heart of the logo is the Earth, embraced by a star symbolizing hope – the hope that with imagination, commitment and dedication, we can create a better tomorrow.”

Here’s the future Festival Center, which resembles early concept art for what would ultimately become The American Adventure.

And here’s the France pavilion, featuring three great examples of French cuisine: Chefs de France, Monsieur Paul, and Gusteau’s. Except one isn’t exactly a restaurant… it’s Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure!

The X-2 Deep Space Shuttle flies high over Mission: Space as they prepare for an otherworldly dining experience.

I am Groot. (Translation: And here’s the site of the future Guardians of the Galaxy attraction.)

The former Wonders of Life pavilion gets a makeover as it prepares to become the Play Pavilion.

As we wrap up our tour of this imaginative model, we finish at the Imagination pavilion.

And this is what it looks like all together.

But where is Epcot going? And what kind of future will we discover there? Surprisingly, the answers lie in our past. With apologies to Spaceship Earth, let’s take a look at a display of some of Epcot’s history…

I am super jealous of you if you own any of these things.

(Fun fact: You too can own an Epcot Center opening day ticket stub if you earn enough Corbucks.)

And there you have it: a look to the past on the way to the future. Keep reading WDWNT as we learn more about Epcot’s transformation!

'Queer Eye' star Karamo Brown breaks silence on 'DWTS' Sean Spicer controversy - Fox News

Queer Eye” star and future “Dancing With The Stars” contestant Karamo Brown fired back at critics who called him out for appearing on the competition series with former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer.

ABC announced Wednesday that Brown and Spicer will compete on Season 28 of “DWTS” alongside Christie Brinkley, "The BacheloretteHannah Browncountry singer Lauren Alaina, "Dawson's Creek" star James Van Der BeekNFL legend Ray Lewis, former Fifth Harmony singer Ally Brooke, NBA star and Khloe Kardashian ex-husband Lamar Odom, "Kenan and Kel" star Kel Mitchell, former Supremes singer Mary Wilson and "The Office" star Kate Flannery.

When one Twitter user lamented Brown allowing his celebrity to be used in connection with anything having to do with the Trump administration, the 38-year-old former “Real World” star clapped back.

“First, I have no say who is on the cast and didn’t find out till this morning that he is on!” Brown responded. “But I’ll tell you this... I’m excited to sit down w/ him and engage in a respectful conversation. Only way things get better is if we try to educate those who have different POV than us.”

According to Entertainment Tonight, Brown got a little more heated with another critic in a since-deleted tweet.

“I honestly can’t stand people like you who post things like this and you reposted some bs about a comment Jonathan [Van Ness] said… just to flame the fire and get a reaction,” he said, referencing a comment made by his “Queer Eye” costar previously made about Mitt Romney.

“We fight harder than your a-- ever has for people of color and members of the LGBTQIA community,” Brown added.

Brown isn’t the only one to take a shot at Spicer’s casting on “DWTS.” The show’s host, Tom Bergeron, took to social media on Wednesday to post a lengthy statement explaining his feelings about which "celebrities" will be featured on Season 28 of the hit reality competition series. He specifically zeroed in on Spicer.

Bergeron wrote how he hoped the new season “would be a joyful respite from our exhausting political climate and free of inevitably divisive bookings from ANY party affiliations.”

He described how he met with "DWTS" new executive producer, Andrew Llinares, to make his feelings known and he left their lunch "convinced we were in agreement."

“Subsequently (and rather obviously),” Bergeron wrote, “a decision was made to, as we often say in Hollywood, ‘go in a different direction.'”

"We can all agree to disagree, as we do now, but ultimately it's their call," he continued. "I'll leave it to them to answer any further questions about those decisions."

Bergeron made a pledge to the show's fans: "For me, as host, I always gaze into the camera's lens and imagine you on the other side, looking for a two-hour escape from whatever life hassles you've been wrestling with. That's a connection and a responsibility which I take very seriously, even if I occasionally season it with dad jokes."

In response to Bergeron's post, Llinares told Fox News in a statement on Wednesday: "We’ve got a great and diverse cast. We are excited about the season."

Bethenny Frankel to Exit ‘Real Housewives of New York’ (EXCLUSIVE) - Variety

Bethenny Frankel is stepping away from the “Real Housewives” franchise.

Variety has learned exclusively that Frankel is poised to exit Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of New York” ahead of its upcoming twelfth season. Frankel first joined the acclaimed reality series back when it premiered back in 2008 before exiting the series in 2010 during the show’s third season. She then rejoined the show during its seventh season in 2015 and has been with it since. She has also made guest appearances on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and starred in the spinoff shows “Bethenny Ever After” and “Bethenny & Fredrik.”

Bravo did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment.

“I have decided to leave the ‘Housewives’ franchise to explore my next chapter,” Frankel said in a statement. “It’s time to move on and focus on my daughter, my philanthropy and my production partnership with Mark Burnett, producing and starring in shows which represent a shift in the conversation for women. With the changes in modern culture, I want to highlight the strength, confidence and unstoppable power that women have. My experience at Bravo has been an incredibly magical ride. I am so grateful to them for highlighting my entrepreneurialism and allowing me to pave the way for many women to achieve their goals. I am excited for my future. The best is yet to come.”

Frankel signed a deal with MGM Television and Mark Burnett back in March under which she will develop unscripted projects that she will executive produce and potentially appear on camera. According to an individual with knowledge of the deal, Frankel has recently taken meetings at both cable networks and streaming platforms to discuss producing new shows under the MGM deal. In addition, Frankel also has her Skinnygirl lifestyle brand and her B Strong charity, which has provided disaster relief to those affected by hurricanes in areas like Houston, North Carolina, and Puerto Rico.

The other main cast members on the most recent season of “RHONY” include Tinsley Mortimer, Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer, and Luann de Lesseps.

From the start of the show in 2008, Frankel was its breakout star. She was smart and funny, and appeared to be in on the joke. She was also not afraid to fight with the other cast members, leading to some of the show’s most quoted and GIF’d moments. She went from being a struggling natural foods chef to a mogul. After she returned to the show in 2015 after her five-year hiatus, RHONY’s ratings went up. But more important, the show once again became a fan favorite, which is what “Housewives” shepherd Andy Cohen, the former Bravo executive-turned-talk-show-host-and-producer, sought when he asked her to come back.

Frankel has never shied away from showing her life on TV, including revealing the painful toll her ugly divorce and custody fight has taken on her as well as how devastated she was after the death of her on again/off again boyfriend Dennis Shields in August 2018.

Kate Aurthur contributed to this report.

Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron And Margot Robbie Feature In The Bombshell Teaser - Empire

    Movies:

    Actors:

The scandal that arose around powerful media mogul, political manipulator and Fox News boss Roger Ailes is already being chronicled on screen via the Russell Crowe-starring series The Loudest Voice. Now comes the cinematic take, Bombshell, which features Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie leading the cast, and John Lithgow as Ailes. Check out the first teaser...

Jay Roach, who has usually been found documenting real-life scandals and political maneuvers for HBO, teamed up with The Big Short writer Charles Randolph for this one. IT'll follow Ailes' rise and fall. He ran Fox News and helped launch the careers of Megyn Kelly (Theron), Gretchen Carlson (Kidman), and Sean Hannity (Spencer Garrett) with his powerful channel. He also was also a prominent figure in Republican circles who helped elect presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George Bush. He was forced to resign in 2016 due to sexual harassment allegations, with Carlson and Kelly’s the most high-profile, and which contributed to his exit from the network.

Alice Eve, Kate McKinnon, Rob Delaney, Allison Janney and Stephen Root are also featured in the cast, and Bombshell lands in the US on 20 December but has yet to confirm a solid UK release. We'd expect it early next year.

Tom Bergeron doesn't sound thrilled about the new 'DWTS' cast - CNN

The show's host, Tom Bergeron, tweeted a statement Wednesday after the new cast of contestants, which includes former White House press secretary Sean Spicer, was announced.
Sean Spicer joins the cast of 'Dancing with the Stars'
Bergeron wrote that during a lunch with an executive producer for "Dancing With the Stars," he had offered up some suggestions for Season 28.
"Chief among them was my hope that DWTS, in its return from an unprecedented year-long hiatus, would be a joyful respite from our exhausting political climate and free of inevitably divisive bookings from any party affiliation," Bergeron wrote. "I left that lunch convinced we were in agreement."
Bergeron didn't mention Spicer directly, but, he noted in his post, the show's producers decided to "go in a different direction."
'Dancing With the Stars' new cast revealed
"We can all agree to disagree, as we do now, but ultimately it's their call," he said. "I'll leave it to them to answer any further questions about those decisions."
During the cast announcement on "Good Morning America on Wednesday, Bergeron cracked a joke about Spicer.
"The nice thing is, Sean will be in charge of assessing audience size," Bergeron quipped, poking fun at the controversy over the crowd size at the 2017 inauguration of President Donald Trump.
The joke didn't go over too well on social media, nor were some people happy with Spicer's addition to the cast.
"None of this is funny. This man knowingly and blatantly lied to the American people in his official capacity as a government servant of the people," one person tweeted. "He helped create the atrocity that is still in office. Shame on ABC."
CNN has reached out to Spicer for comment.
